France around 1920
Double page in printed paper. Wooden sticks with neoclassical decorations. It’s an interesting advertising fan of the beginning of the XX century. On the front it’s represented a scene, at whole page, of a gallant party, dance and music around the statue of Cupid; the whole is surrounded by flower decorations festoons and which remind the Louis XVI style. On the back, at the center, there’s a plate taking the name and place of the prestigious Paris hotel, Hotel de Crillon. Place de la Concorde, Paris. Above, a crest with the double “C” of the Count of Crillon while at the sides, the impressive front and a sight of Place de la Concorde are represented. It’s interesting to underline that the choice to adopt a XVIII style for the fan, is not casual at all. This follows exactly the building’s style, built between 50’s and 70’s of the XVIII century. The inauguration dating of the Hotel, 1909, allows us to date the fan to the first years of activity.
